Loddon Reach Magazine wins National Award

Earlier this year, Gillian Steedman - designer, production manager and the former editor of Loddon Reach magazine - entered the National Parish Magazine Awards, submitting two copies of the magazine for review. We are delighted to annouce that the magazine is the category winner for content and in third place overall. And that was out of 890 - yes 890 - entries!

Of course, we wouldn't have won this award without the contributions from all parties - so thank you, all.

Mostly G&S Concert - Saturday 24th November

Local operatic society “Mostly G & S” will be holding a fantastic fundraising concert at St Michael's Church, Spencers Wood, on 24th November at 7.45pm.

All Saints' Christmas Fayre - Saturday 24th November

This year's Christmas Fayre will be held on Saturday, 24th November in Swallowfield Parish Hall from 10am to 2pm.

St Mary's Winter Fayre - help required

If you are having an autumn turnout and find any unused gifts which would be suitable for a Christmas Gift Stall at the Winter Fayre on 24th November, do bring them along to church and put them in the box near the door. We would also appreciate books, items for a tombola, bottles, etc. Ann Young

Vestry Screen/Open Church project thanks

Thanks to everyone who had donated to the Vestry Screen/Open Church project. With the Gift aid rebate the figure as of Tuesday 16th was £2,300 – a little over 1/3 of the remaining costs (including VAT).

Annual Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance - Sunday 4th November

This is an opportunity to remember departed friends and family and to light a candle in remembrance.

Spencers Wood Carnival - Saturday 22nd Sept

The annual Spencers Wood Carnival will be held from noon until 9pm on Saturday 22nd September.

St Mary's Church open for Heritage Weekend

St Mary’s Church, Church Lane, Shinfield will be open on Saturday 8th September from 12 noon until 5.00pm as part of the Heritage Open Weekend. Donations will be welcome.

All Saints' Church open on Thursdays

There is a warm welcome for you at All Saints’ Church in Swallowfield every Thursday afternoon. The church will be open between 2.00 and 6.00pm for quiet meditation, prayer or a friendly talk and, of course, refreshments. The afternoon concludes with a short service of
Evening Prayer at 6.00pm.

St John's Farley Hill to close

St John’s will close on 31st December 2012 with a final Benefice service on Sunday 30th at 10.30am.
